Letter to my mum

Dear mum,

I want to say that I am so proud to be your daughter and so happy I was able to share the best moments with you. I love you so much and I hope you forgive me for the sleepless nights you had when I was a baby and for each time I upset you. You are my best friend and will always be. You teached me everything, you made me the person I am now and for that I thank you.
I know you didn't have an easy life and you had some bad things happen to you but I hope the happy memories will be the ones you have in your mind when you go to heaven.
I wish things would have been different and I wish I would have known the pain you were in. I wish I could have been there to wipe your tears whenever you cried and to support you whenever you were down.
You are a beautiful woman and always have been so I will make sure you stay beautiful.
I will make sure you will never be alone anymore.
I will make sure your grandchild knows how much you loved him and wanted to meet him.
I love you forever!!

Baby Mason at 4 weeks old

The past 4 weeks have been the hardest but also the best of my life. We moved house (twice if I count moving out from Liam's mum where we stayed for a couple of weeks after baby's arrival) and obviously got stuck into parenthood and got used to having a 3rd person around us.

On tuesday the royal baby was born as well so Is baby mania at the moment so Mason will definitely have some friends to play with.

Mason's progress:
He is a very strong little boy and he is always lifting his head and being nosy even though he shouldn't be able to do it yet. He has gained over a pound from his birth weight so at the last weight in (4 days ago) he was 9lb1oz which is normal for his age.
He is still a very sicky baby :( but I am taking him to the GP again in 2 days and I will insist to get referred to a pediatrician as I'm sure this is not normal. We changed his bottles, his formula milk 3 times, used colic drops and nursed him more than usual and his is still sick after each feed. Because he is so sick all the time he is always hungry and not sleeping becuase he's hungry so our days can get very long.
We have a little routine now with sleeping at night : bath with me or Liam around 10/11 at night, bottle of milk (around 4 to 5oz) and then we all pray for a 12:30-1am sleep until 4am until another feed and change is due then another sleep until 7:30 -8am ( this sleep is sometimes in bed with us, naughty but we all love it). Just after Liam goes to work we then get in bed for a mid morning sleep until 10,11am depending on what we are doing that day.

He is an amazing boy and everyone loves him, whenever we go and see anyone he is very well behaved and just faboulous in general. I love taking pictures of him and showing him off because he is so beautiful.

10 days with our baby

The first 10 days with baby Mason were hard and tiring but the best days of my life. This little boy is the best thing that happened to us and I feel so lucky to have him.I didn't think that you could love someone as much as I love him,he's just amazing!

The first days were hard as we were all getting used to each other, I was in a lot of pain which was very frustrating as I couldn't give him my full attention and my boobs were throbbing with pain! The midwife said he is perfect and he's developing just how he should for his age. Today we have the 10 day check which I'm sure it will be just fine.He was born with a mark on his bum which has now gone, also had his first bum rash which is also gone and we had a bit of a sticky eye.
He was quite a sicky baby, vomiting all the time but I think that was my milk being quite fatty.

We also had piercing screams every time we changed his nappy, he was absolutely hating it and it broke my heart to hear him crying like that :(
Now he's just amazing, the crying has gone,he just makes piggy noises when we change him. He loves his daily baths with me and I love it too!
We try and get him in the bath by 10/10:30 so Liam can give him a bottle by 11 so then he's asleep straight away and I only have to get up once or twice in the night for a feed and change.

He is sleeping a lot with feeds every 2-3 hour. I try to keep him entertained while he's awake so he gets a good sleep.

He's a very sucky baby so we give him a dummy to chill him out! I was against dummy's before him *** nasty cheap plastics*** but is amazing the effect they have on him and I always said that if he's happy and content then I am.

I also breastfeed apart from his after bath bottle of formula that Liam gives him. I can't say that I love breastfeeding because I don't, it hurts and my boobs have gone humongous but I know is good for him, I will put him on formula full time when he's 10 weeks ...maybe.

HOUSE UPDATE:

We are finally moving tomorrow!! I can't believe this happened just when I went into labour but there is an end to it and tomorrow is the day. I am so excited!
Oh... The car broke down when I was in labour as well so Liam had to run to his dads to get his car at 12 am at night, we had the parking pass in the old car but that's a different story! I didn't expect this to be easy anyway ;))

Letter for my baby

Dear baby,

I decided to write you a little virtual letter because I cannot find a pen anywhere in this house and is a very big chance it will get lost by the time you get to read it. So I just wanted to tell you that I am not mad at you for getting me really fat ( 3-4 stone extra to be precise) or for the pains I encountered in the past 15 weeks or so. Pains that I didn't even realize exist in my body.

So, baby! These are the things that I will miss about being pregnant:

- my bump. Not my now bump. My before bump, when is was cute and manageable
- excuse to eat a lot
-your daddy's face when I fart and blame you
-the dog being around me all the time
-your kicks
-not having periods (Is a girls thing, you'll never understand)
-maternity clothes, some of them anyway
-getting away with not cleaning, cooking or anything else I don't really fancy doing
-being made cups of tea by your dad
-shopping for newborn stuff and just for general junk. I have been doing a lot of that in the past months and I have stopped as we physically haven't got any more room and you have so much stuff anyway
- the excitement of meeting you
-the excitement on your dad's face every time we mention you
- the excitement on your grandparents to meet you
-weekly bump pictures I have been taking since I was 16 weeks
-something BIG to look forward to
-time off work!!!

Things I will not miss about being pregnant:

-pains, aches, big kicks in the ribs, punches in the bladder
-sore boobs
-random sickness and vomiting episodes, usually before bed
-weeing every 5 minutes
-having no sleep, especially in the last trimester when bump is too big
-weird sudden cravings like cherries when I have no money on me
-weight gain
-not being able to wear many clothes for too long due to ever changing shape
-paying for maternity clothes that I don't get to wear for too long
-stretch marks ( got a few in week 38 to 39)
-hot flushes
-not being able to shave or see my bits
-not being able to drink, I miss WINE!
-not being able to walk anymore or do any sort of exercise

So baby!! As you can see there have been pros and cons but we will love you very much and we have sacrificed a lot of things in order to offer you the best start in life. We are moving to a bigger house, we got a new car so we can get you in an out easier than in our old car, we have ensured that you have every single piece of clothing, cosmetic, toiletry and gadget that is available so you don't miss out like we might have done when we were little. We will take you to baby groups, swimming, football games and any other things you might like doing (saying we I mean your dad of course as I will be too busy drinking wine).
I am excited to sit around the table together whilst you throw food on the walls, your dad cleaning it and me booting the dog for begging and making noises... that's how I picture our dinners :)
I am excited for our first Xmas together. You will be too small to understand but it will be amazing!!

So baby!! Hurry up and bring some excitement to our lives because we REALLY need it!!!

Love, your fat mother!

Our home

I decided to do a post about my favorite spots in the house as I am going through a very loving phase at the moment and I will miss this house very much when we move. Plus I want baby to see where he was born (is looking like this will be his house for a couple of days/weeks until we move).

New plant pot outside the front door which I'm very proud of (again is the little things in life)

Firstly is baby's room obviously. It used to be my dressing room and I was very proud of it but now we are used to be quite self contained so we get ready in our own bedroom where we now have a dressing table.
This bedroom was decorated by Liam and we are proud of it. He put the wallpaper up, carpet down and painted the walls, pipes and radiator so it was sparkling clean. He also built the nursery with the help of his brother and Dad. We still have a few stickers and photos to put up but we'll do this in the new house.

As mentioned, we now have a dressing table in our bedroom which I love as it has everything we need at hands reach. My favorite item is the sparkly mirror which we got from Liam's brother.

The next room is the lounge where we spend most of our time together. I always have fresh flowers on the fireplace stand and some candles burning. My favorite spot is the square bookcase which holds a few pictures and wooden words which very much reflect our home. We also have the most comfortable chair which our friends gave to us when they were renovating and is Liam's pride and joy. He doesn't get to sit on it as at the moment is the only thing that I'm comfortable to sit on.

We also have a spare room downstairs which used to be a dumping room before I moved in, to then transform into a dining room. We decided we weren't getting much use of it as we rarely eat at the table (more like TV dinners whilst watching Eastenders) and when I got pregnant we decided to transform it into a spare room with a sofa bed in case anyone stays over. For a while it was Liam's room as he did spend a few nights sleeping in there before he decided the sofa is a better option. Also the cheeky bastard dog decided that is was way better than his own bed so he used to make himself comfortable on the sofa bed.If we would have stayed in this house we would have used the room as a play room and also to put the pram and the toy box so there away from our lounge.

Last and my favorite room is The Kitchen!! I bloody love my kitchen and I will definitely need a while to recover from the devastation of downgrading to a smaller one. We only had the kitchen done (by Liam again because he's clever like that) last year in September so is very new. I take much pride in the white floor and cupboards and clean it every day :) we also have a bar built in and is great for when we have people round for dinner which is more or less every week. We had some great little parties here and that is also how we got together ( came to see the bar apparently). It was also great for Christmas and New Year as we had drinks at the bar rather than go out and I'm sure it saved us a small fortune over the years having drinks at our bar. We also use the bar for a quick dinner although we now have one of them dining tables that folds back once is used and is great for us.
My kitchen has everything I need in it, loads of cupboards, shelves and the indispensable white appliances which I refuse to move out without. Now that I am fat I can't bend over or stretch to the higher shelves so I have a little prep station next to my amazing cooker with my oils, pastas and other spices I use all the time. I like to have things handy so I keep my mugs, kettle and coffee/tea next to each other as well. When I went on mat leave I organized all the cupboard so I know where everything is and unnecessary clutter is thrown away.
Latest addition to my kitchen is the plant pots on the windowsill which I think it makes it look even nicer. The color on the walls was something that I also love as is my favorite color but I also think it makes it look fresher and cleaner.

Of course we also have a bathroom and a garden but I don't spend much time in any of them so not really worth mentioning. So Dear Baby, this is our home for the time being and I hope you will like it as much as we do for the time you're here.

Our Bank Holiday Weekend

This was the hottest weekend of the year so far and boy you could tell! Pubs were packed, the coffee shop at the park was bursting with the queue longer than a January pay day(so veryyyy long), lots and lots of pasty skin on show, it was amazing!

This is our weekend in pictures:

We went to the park.Me and the dog went man down after 10 minutes of walking.Me because the baby was pressing on my bladder and it hurt like hell and the dog because it was hot and he can't deal with heat. So we ended up with a hot dog.

We then met friends in the evening for drinks. It made me miss booze even more,I cannot wait for a Koppereberg Cider.

We had big, fluffy American pancakes for breakfast covered in chocolate, honey and fruit. They were beyond delicious and we decided to have them every Sunday morning now.

We took a nice photo of us.

We bought a car.Without trying to be smug,we needed a bigger car so it wasn't by choice. The finance deal on it is not great.

We sunbathed in the garden with Naomi and drank Bucks Fizz ( had 2 glasses, could have finished the bottle it was that nice)

We had a BBQ dinner. This is my plate ( see how healthy I eat???). For dessert I had fruit salad and POSSIBLY a brownie with squirty cream....

That's what we did. It was lovely and can't wait to do this with the baby.Being a lady of leisure suits me :) x

32 weeks pregnant

Today I am 8 weeks away from giving birth providing the baby comes on time.Every week it takes longer and longer to get a good picture of the bump as this week for example we couldn't take one without my back fat on display. Not a little fat, plenty of rolls actually!  This is how I look minus the back fat:

No cravings this week, quite an achy back and swollen feet but feeling good overall. Baby is moving so much throughout the day which is a very good thing, I have seen the midwife also who confirmed everything is good and normal.

I now know why people like me are dreading having babies, because other people with babies are idiots! The amount of times I heard today: 'Oooooh not long now, hope you are ready for sleepless nights' or 'pooey nappies are awful, do you wanna try and practice?' NO,of course not! Why the hell would I wanna change your child's bum to practice? I'm sure I will get enough practice from my own. That and the sick and the drools that come with it but that in a different post :)

On a different note, today we have decided that we are accepting an offer on our house so hopefully baby will be born in a new house. I cannot wait to make it our own. Look:

The new house has 3 bedrooms, a garage and a perfect kitchen diner. Also the enclosed garden is great for the stepdog,he cannot be left on his own in our garden as he sneaks into Keith's garden next door and he forgets how he got in and gets stuck in the fence.I know! So overall a great house for us and can't wait to start decorating it!

First Post... About me

I wasn't sure what to write about in my first post so best introduce myself and my life and who is part of  it.

This is us... Me, my boyfriend Liam and our one year old niece,Naomi. Also present is our unborn baby boy due in 8 weeks.

And this is my stepdog...Maddox. We are still establishing whether we like each other or not.I mostly like him when he doesn't fart, breathe close to me and doesn't sit anywhere apart from his own bed.

So this is us... My next post will be about the past 32 weeks x

P.S. Please bare with me while I'm trying to figure out how to work the blog thing out, I'm poo at technology. I can only just check my emails and read other blogs and trying to do it with an iPad is not helping either
